Defiant (April, 2011) is winging its way to...wherever stories wing to when all the corrections that can be done are finally done.
That's a hard time for an author. Or maybe it's just me. There are always places where an author feels she could have--should have--done better. Sometimes it's the simple happy neuosis that comes from taking off all your clothes, getting on a stage and-- I mean, from creating a work that (hopefully) hundreds of thousands of readers will see. Sometimes it's a more reflective awareness of yourself as a storyteller, warts and all.
But . . . that's one of the things that makes the writer a sustainable resource: there's always another story to write! The drive to write more, to write better (and maybe one day when the kiddo is older, to write faster!) is strong. I am off to do so now.
It's another medieval. Another dangerous alpha hero, this one with a soft spot for competent, desperate women who are found lurking in places they don't belong....

I keep forgetting to post this: The Irish Warrior and The Conqueror have both sold rights to France and Germany. Yay! The Conqueror has also sold Thai, Portuguese, and Russian rights. Big thanks to readers for reading and loving!
October 2010
DEFIANT has gone to copy-edits, which is the phase of the publication process where someone nails me on all the little errors and inconsistencies that slip in over the course of writing and rewriting, such as someone's dress morphing through three colors in the same scene, or a character picking up the same item over and over without setting it down first, and other fun stuff like that. I'm off to work on the next story while I wait to get those back.

Have been working on back cover wording with editor. Fun and difficult. If you ever find that you don't like the back cover copy on a book, or think it doesn't describe the book well, just know this: They tried.
